Admission Criteria

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 

Admission is done through competition test known as JNVST conducted by CBSE and students are admitted in class VIth. The test consists the objective questions on reasoning, mathematics and language. It is  logically non-verbal and objective in nature and designed so that rural talented students are able to compete without suffering any disadvantage. 
 
In order to  utilize infrastructure facilities, available vacant seats at class IXth level are filled by selection test on the basis of class VIIIth syllabus. Medium of test is Hindi /English as per choice of applicant. Vacant seats of class XIth are filled on the basis of class Xth merit. 
 
As per scheme maximum of 80 students are admitted in class VIth every year. 
 
Eligibility Criteria
  1. A candidate appearing for selection test must be studying in class VIth in Govt./ Govt. aided or other recognized school of the district.
  2. Age 9-13 year on Ist may of year of admission for which selection test is conducted and it is applicable for all categories.
  3. Candidate applying for rural quota must have passed class III, IV,V from school located in rural area in the preceding 3 continuous academic session without any repetition, gap or break.
  4. No candidate is allowed to appear in selection test for the second time under any circumstances.
Reservation Criteria
  1. For Students of Rural Area - 75 %
  2. For Students of Urban Area - 25 %
  3. For Girls Students - 33 %
  4. For SC Students - 15 %
  5. For ST Students - 7.5 %
Lateral Entry in class IX
  1. Arrangement is to be made for lateral entry test, only when vacancies exist in class IX of the session.
  2. Vacancy is to be notified and is to be intimated to NVS, R.O.
  3. Application forms are to be distributed in the district, only if vacancies exist.
  4. Demand for question papers is to be submitted to NVS, R.O after the scrutiny of applications.
  5. Test is to be conducted as per the guidelines.
  6. After the conduct of the test, answer papers are to be forwarded to the evaluation centre along with the latest vacancy position and bio-data of candidates in soft and hard copies.
  7. On receipt of select list from Regional Office, admission is to be done after proper verification of documents.
Allotment of streams for admission in class XI
 
It is decided to follow the criteria given below for admission in Class XI for the session 2014-15:
 
Science with Mathematics
  1. 5.0 Grade Point in English
  2. 7.0 Grade Point in Maths
  3. 7.0 Grade Point in Science
  4. 7.5 Grade Point in Science & Maths together
  5. 35 Grade Point in aggregate of all subjects in Class X
Science without Mathematics
  1. 5.0 Grade Point in English
  2. 5.0 Grade Point in Maths
  3. 7.0 Grade Point in Science
  4. 30 Grade point in aggregate of all subjects in Class X
Commerce Stream with Maths
  1. 6.0 Grade Point in Maths.
  2. 25 Grade Point in aggregate of all subjects in Class X
Commerce Stream without Maths
  1. 5.0 Grade Point in Maths.
  2. 25 Grade Point in aggregate of all subjects in Class X
Note: If there is a tie among students, admission is to be decided on the basis of performance in SA2 in the subjects like English, Science and Mathematics only.
